Our Primary classroom provides a rich, purposeful learning environment where children build upon the foundational skills developed in earlier levels. Rooted in Montessori philosophy and guided by Catholic values, this classroom fosters independence, confidence, and a deep respect for self, others, and God’s creation. Instruction is also aligned with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards to ensure comprehensive development across all domains of learning.
Within this prepared environment, children continue to strengthen early literacy and phonemic awareness, expand vocabulary, and develop effective communication skills through meaningful conversation, storytelling, and hands-on materials. Early writing experiences emerge naturally as children explore symbols, sounds, and expression.

Our Primary classroom operates with an age span of thirty months to six years.

Mathematical development is supported through concrete, hands-on materials that introduce counting, sequencing, patterns, measurement, and foundational problem-solving skills. Children are encouraged to explore concepts at their own pace, building confidence and a strong conceptual understanding.

Sensorial exploration continues to refine the child’s ability to observe, compare, and classify the world around them, strengthening cognitive development and supporting later academic learning in math, science, and language.

Scientific inquiry is introduced through hands-on exploration, observation, and simple experiments. Children are encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, and reflect on cause and effect as they explore the natural and physical world.

Movement and creative expression are integrated throughout the day, allowing children to represent thoughts, feelings, imagination, and experiences through music, art, and purposeful physical activity. Both fine and gross motor development are intentionally supported through daily work and play.

A strong emphasis is placed on social-emotional development and independence. Children are given meaningful opportunities for child-directed work, decision-making, and responsibility within the classroom community. This fosters self-discipline, leadership, cooperation, and respect for others.

Faith formation is gently woven into the daily routine through prayer, gratitude, and an atmosphere of peace and reverence, nurturing each child’s growing understanding of God’s love.

Designed to promote school readiness, our Primary classroom ensures children are well-prepared for VPK and Kindergarten by supporting growth in early literacy, emergent writing, mathematics, social-emotional skills, motor development, scientific thinking, and creative expression.
