Holy Spirit Child Development Academy

LEVEL II

Our Level II classroom provides a peaceful, nurturing, and carefully prepared environment for children ages 10 to 32 months. Rooted in Montessori philosophy and guided by Catholic values, our program recognizes each child as a unique gift from God—worthy of dignity, respect, and supported growth. Instruction and experiences are also intentionally aligned with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards to ensure developmentally appropriate practice across all domains of learning.

Within this thoughtfully prepared space, children engage in hands-on, sensory-rich experiences that foster independence, concentration, and joyful discovery. Through purposeful activity, they develop coordination of movement, strengthen fine and gross motor skills, and increase body awareness while learning to respect themselves, others, and their environment.

Our Level II classroom operates with an age span of ten to thirty-two months.

Language development is intentionally supported through rich, responsive interactions. Teachers model clear and respectful speech, name objects and experiences, and engage children in songs, stories, and daily conversation. Basic sign language is also introduced to support communication, reduce frustration, and provide children with additional tools for self-expression prior to or alongside emerging verbal language. This consistent, multi-sensory exposure supports early vocabulary growth, comprehension, and confident communication of needs, thoughts, and emotions.

Practical Life experiences form a central part of the classroom curriculum. Children are invited to participate in simple, meaningful activities such as pouring, transferring, dressing, cleaning, and caring for their environment. These tasks promote independence, concentration, coordination, and a growing sense of responsibility and belonging within the classroom community.

Sensorial exploration allows children to engage the world through touch, sight, sound, and movement. By manipulating and comparing materials, children begin to classify and organize their experiences, laying an essential foundation for future learning in language, mathematics, and science.

Social development is gently guided through opportunities for cooperation, parallel play, and early collaborative interactions. Teachers model kindness, patience, and peaceful problem-solving, supporting children as they begin to form respectful relationships and navigate shared spaces.

Clear and consistent boundaries are an important part of the learning environment. Loving structure and predictable expectations provide children with a sense of safety and trust, while gentle redirection supports the development of self-regulation, respect for others, and appropriate classroom behavior.

Daily routines and rhythms—including greetings, transitions, shared meals, prayer, and quiet reflection—create a sense of order, stability, and peace. These rituals also reflect our Catholic identity, gently introducing children to God’s presence in their everyday experiences.

Faith formation is gently woven into the daily routine through prayer, gratitude, and an atmosphere of peace and reverence, nurturing each child’s growing understanding of God’s love.
