Early Childhood Nutrition

At the Holy Spirit Child Development Academy, we want to give families the opportunity to expand their knowledge about nutrition and the impact it has during this stage of their child’s life. While we do not serve or provide food at the academy, we want to ensure that our families have access to resources to assist them and gain a better understanding of early childhood nutrition.

Nutrition Packet

Our Nutrition Packet gives parents insight into our policies surrounding food and beverages, an example meal plan, and additional resources to assist parents with nutrition and food safety.

Food Safety

Children under the age of five are at risk for foodborne illnesses and infections because their immune systems are not fully developed. It is important to follow all safety guidelines to prevent your child from contracting these illnesses since they could potentially have long term effects and lead to lifelong medical conditions.

Nutrition and healthy eating practices

Nutrition is essential to your child's development. Having healthy food and beverages impacts your child's focus, aids in their cognitive functions, improves and maintains their mood, creates strong bones and teeth, creates healthy habits, supports their immune system, and prevents chronic illnesses and diseases.

Family Engagement

Family Engagement is essential when teaching children about food and creating healthy habits. Children should be encouraged to help in the kitchen at snack and meal times, practice intuitive eating, understand the importance of eating without distractions, and fostering family relationships at meal times.
